Just Fitz LLC ( Karen Fitzpatrick), evolved slowly from a 2003 stained glass class to a 2006 window project for the music room in the house we were building to an obsession with glass improvisation . After participating in a gallery show and joining the Cattaraugus County Arts Council I began to take part in the Routes to Art Studio Tours 2009-2014. Glass possesses, it strikes a chord, it's ephemeral, it hums a melody, it's always welcome company...the panels begin a new conversation each time the light transitions... they appear to be 3D images when backlit by night skies... I approach the bins and stacks of glass as a painter would their palette. I love to up cycle and try to combine glass with things abandoned...My background does not include a formal education in art……rather, music. Inspiration is often a song lyric. I utilize my own photographs, drawings, solder sculpting, metal, wood and tumbled glass to add a more soulful voice.

I borrow the cadence of Suessical thought
And endeavor to explain_thou I'm afraid I cannot.
It begins with a photo, a lyric, a book.
The glass itself takes on a broken lost look.
Then a pattern emerges_just waiting to happen
The nuance and textures of glass show their fashion.
Soldered and plated with metal or wire
Copper or zinc frames accent final attire.
